SDW Club TT Trophy Winners 2025
Congratulations to our competition winners and everyone who took part!

Event #17: Thursday 28th August 2025 @ 18:45h
Report: The Last Dance and a solid turnout on Ladies Mile to conclude our 2025 TT series (well until we head up those climbs). It was yet another impressive ride from Ivo who retains his Road Bike competition trophy, whilst in the HCP comp John Fuller has his hands firmly on the trophy after a consistent season. We already knew Baggey had the TT trophy. Well done to everyone who took part.
Red Lamp Moments: This goes to Ben C who stopped after the 2nd lap … he’s not even new!
Rider of the Evening: We gave socks to Pete C & Jack J this week – both recording impressive rides and not having had a pair this season.
TT Debrief: OMG – people went in different directions – the Velo Junction & Velo George both profiting this week.
TT Debuts (Season Target x10) – 13/10: How brilliant to have another youth rider join the series – well done Jack, that’s 13 new riders for the season!

Event #16: Thursday 21st August 2025 @ 19:00h
Report: The dreaded roadworks appeared so the roundabout was on! We also scrapped the 2UP … and then didnt. Carol insisted that Jonny give her a last dance and they’ve only gone a scooped this season’s SDW TT 2UP award! It was ablistering ride from Sam on his TT machine, closely followed by McRocket. In the RB comp surely Ivo has wrapped things up … powered on by some decent GCSE results. In the HCP comp Baggey is in for a challenge next week … watch this space!
Red Lamp Moments: Julian attempted the timing … and managed to get 4/11 riders recorded. Definately work to do and much still to learn from our Jedi watch masters.
Rider of the Evening: The socks went Ian B (a his first TT in 30 years!) & also to Ben C as we tempt him into a kit glow up!
TT Debrief: A few made it to the Velo George – we are hoping for a huge turnout for the grand finale next week.
TT Debuts (Season Target x10) – 12/10: We’re smashing things now, Ian becomes our 12th new TT rider this season.

Event #15: Thursday 31st July 2025 @ 19:00h
Report: Carol was in charge as a smaller but very elite group gave this one a good go. Looks like Baggey has wrapped up the TT Bike comp … the others are still wide open.
Red Lamp Moments: Jonny F this week – an absolute nightmare with a chain off multiple times and a cleat malfunction.
Rider of the Evening: The socks went to Tom W & Frederik P (in his first TT) who both recorded exactly the same time.
TT Debrief: It went off by all accounts.
TT Debuts (Season Target x10) – 11/10: Boooooom … welcome Frederik Poulson who makes it 11 new riders this season.

Event #14: Thursday 24th July 2025 @ 19:00h
Report: The lights disappeared and Mr Tutt proposed something a little different. So it was a gloomy & dank thrash around the Ashdown Forest course, but with a Groombridge start – the consensus being it made for a decent warm up before tackling the Jib Jacks climb. Not that Olly needs much warm up as he again raced around and overtook all bar John, who’d played a blinder getting that mountain put back in. Henry braved his illness and got round, Baggey surely now has the TT trophy in his hands (will be drop it though?!) and Jonny F is hanging on to the HCP comp after prioritising the SDW social over the damp roads.
Red Lamp Moments: Mike K can have this… anyone with time to use hand signals in a TT really isnt pushing hard enough.
Rider of the Evening: Henry picks this up for battling his way around a tough course whilst feeling very average.
TT Debrief: It was the SDW summer social so people headed to the White Bear
TT Debuts (Season Target x10) – 10/10: Yes!!! Welcome Tom W who cheerfully completed his first TT and ensured we hit our target for the 3rd season running. Boooooooom!!

Event #13: Thursday 22nd July 2025 @ 19:00h
Report: We headed over to our friends at East Grinstead to give their FLAT 10 mile smash a good go. There were 9 riders on the start sheet for this one, which was also The Warwick Dunford Fixed Wheel Trophy event. What could possibly go wrong… other than Baggey missing a turn? John R powered to victory, finally getting one over Marek, whilst Ivo showed he can smash a flat course too. However, it was all eyes on Carol who stormed to victory in the fixie comp. Shoutout to John T who has now completed x10 events.
Red Lamp Moments: Can only be Baggey … who managed one lap and commented ‘isnt it a bit short?’ – yep … you’re supposed to go round twice. Off you go!
Rider of the Evening: Carol picks up The Warwick Dunford trophy – second year running with a time 2 seconds better than last year.
TT Debrief: England Lionesses were playing their semi final so we saved it for Thursday!
TT Debuts (Season Target x10) – 9/10: Just the regulars for this one … rumour has it Thursday will see us hit the target though.

Event #12: Thursday 17th July 2025 @ 19:00h
Report: The roundabout with Baggey in charge – what could possibly go wrong?! Nothing it seems, Ivo smashed it to close in on Henry in the RB comp, nobody rode a TT bike so Baggey remains in pole position in that event and Jonny F picked up maximum HCP points – he’s also the first top complete 10 events (+ a marshalling duty) to max kudos.
Event 12 also closed off the SDW TT League Ladder – well done to Henry Tutt who stormed the competition with 45 points, also moving from league C to B. Close behind we have Jonny Fuller in 2nd place on 42 points and Dave Bagge in 3rd place on 37 points. Some cracking prizes coming for our first competition winners. Well done to all that got involved in this one.
Red Lamp Moments: Probably goes to Mike K for his ‘core’ issue – tough to score a DNF on that course.
Rider of the Evening: Deservedly goes to Jonny F – who is first to complete x10 events this season
TT Debrief: Looked like a decent turnout despite so regulars missing – good to see The Admiral too.
TT Debuts (Season Target x10) – 9/10: Nobdy new … with 5 events left can we tempt one more new rider to get invovled?

Event #11: Thursday 10th July 2025 @ 19:00h
Report: Olly looks like a pro, rides like pro and set a near pro time round the Ladies Mile circuit. So good to see. Baggey taking a another maximum points haul in the TT gives him a chance of the trophy. In the HCP comp Jonny F is on a march to glory – or is he, as Emma is back!
Red Lamp Moments: Nothing notable – other than we couldnt get organized for marshals so that’s probably on us all!
Rider of the Evening: We gave this to Olly – our resident semi pro who started last … and finished before everyone else!
TT Debrief: Decent attendance … although no food so Baggey & Paddy cleared off for a post TT kebab – that’s got to be a first?
TT Debuts (Season Target x10) – 9/10: Shoutout to Ben who gave his first TT a good smash – new to the club and what a first ride!

Event #10: Thursday 3rd July 2025 @ 19:00h
Report: The road surface has improved and for some so did the finish times. It was back down Black Hill again this week, although all the way to the bottom of Cherry Gardens (with no delivery van to be seen). Omar made an apperance and wiped the floor with everyone, closely followed by Ivo & McRocket.
Shoutout to Ben who took the HCP points with an impressive ride, even managing to hold Omar off in that competition.
Red Lamp Moments: Carol wins this week, not only arriving a little late, then proceeded to steal for Jonny F’s No1 – poor form! There is also Ed who left his bag in Doug’s car … and had to admit to owning one of the saddle bag things too.
Rider of the Evening: This went to John Tutt – who had helped himself to x2 portions of sticky toffee pud at school and still flew around the course.
TT Debrief: Solid attendance, we worried about Ed’s bag for a few moments and then realized he could get in so all was good.
TT Debuts (Season Target x10) – 8/10: Brilliant to have young Lucas B join his first SDW (in the wild) – he smashed it!

Event #9: Thursday 26th June 2025 @ 19:00h
Report: It was the turn of the best TT of the season tonight. Long (but not as long as usual) but perfectly formed up a couple of forest climbs. Starting after some traffic lights and being diverted around ladies’ mile, it was a stacked field. Ably marshalled by a few Johns. There were those not wanting to ride a long course (John R and John F), those with a bad back (Rory), those on photo duties (Carol) and those who, by marshalling, kindly prevented their son from turning out to beat me (John T).
In the bike racing, a pro-level performance from Olly Clements took the RB category in a CR (considering it has not been ridden). We all cried for him when he announced how disappointed he was to only average 39.9kph. In the HCP, it was maximum points for Olly (issues with the handicapper) so a shout out to Dave Bagge who came in as runner-up despite riding very slowly down Black Hill.
Red Lamp Moments: Possibly the worst handicapping effort of the season by not setting our dev team neo-pro Olly off on scratch, but other than that it goes to the Rory and other marshals for parking in the lay-by so the TT Lead had to lug the box halfway through Hartfield to get sign in done!
Rider of the Evening: This went to Simon Howden for getting across the line first when ‘he’d never started this high up before’. Congratulations on a great ride.
TT Debrief: A great attendance considering the length of the TT. A good blend of Scaramanga, Fonthill Lager and Hazy AF. The Gamma Ray fiend was missing, presumed babysitting.
TT Debuts (Season Target x10) – 8/10: Brilliant to have young Lucas B join his first SDW (in the wild) – he smashed it!

Event #8: Tuesday 19th June 2025 @ 19:00h
Report: It was a first outing on the Wadhurst loop, four marshals including one dressed in full skinsuit! It was John R who again lit up the course with a blistering ride, at one point Sam F’s course record looked at risk – perhaps next time. In the RB cat Patrick recovered from last week’s experience to take maximum pts from the ever improving Henry T (who is the leader in our SDW TT Ladder as we head into Round 3). In the HCP comp it was max points for Carol (again!) and Jonny F in 3rd – this is going to be a close one.
Red Lamp Moments: Dave Bagge dominated tonight, first riding the whole course with a loose rear wheel skewer … and then turning up at the debrief looking like Mini Mouse!
Rider of the Evening: This went to Henry T for his consistancy and placing in the RB comp tonight – a brilliant time
TT Debrief: Well attended, at least 6 bags of monster munch – although a few too many Hazy AFs being consumed this week
TT Debuts (Season Target x10) – 8/10: Brilliant to have young Lucas B join his first SDW (in the wild) – he smashed it!

Event #7: Tuesday 12th June 2025 @ 19:00h
Report: Carol stepped in to lead the event, setting some cracking handicap times which meant she scooped maximum points, along with Jonny F! It was our first 2UP TTT and John R & McRocket didnt hang about. Dave B & Grant P took a well deserved second place and everyone was really pleased that Hannah gave Patrick a blind date he’ll never forget!
Red Lamp Moments: 100% goes to Carol – you’re not supposed to win your ‘own’ competition!
Rider of the Evening: The socks went to Hannah for destroying Patrick, and Patrick for getting the handicaps sorted
TT Debrief: Looked like a good one!
TT Debuts (Season Target x10) – 7/10: Nobody new, some returning riders we hope to see again though.

Event #6: Tuesday 5th June 2025 @ 19:00h
Report: It wasn’t pleasant consitions and the Micheal Fish impersonators were on it from 9am as they could see clouds in the sky. Still we waited, polled and went ahead with x8 riders braving the conditions. It’s never the easiest course, starting a TT on an 8% incline isnt ideal, nevetheless everyone made it round safely. Well done to Ivo & Hannah for their strong rides, also Dave ‘I’ve lost power and it’s the new bike’s fault’ Bagge who picked up maximum points in the TT comp – in fact he is now leading this one. Anyone seen McRocket? In the RB comp Ivo leads the way, Henry a wheels length ahead of Dad in the HCP comp. The SDW TT Ladder is also shaping up nicely, with some movement in divisions after the last round. All to ride for … next week it’s the 2up!
Red Lamp Moments: Those made of sugar that tried to bale out at 10am – although to be fair it was pretty miserable.
Rider of the Evening: The socks went to Ivo this week – what a stellar ride to win both the RB & HCP competition.
TT Debrief: Just Baggey & Julian for a quick one to warm up.
TT Debuts (Season Target x10) – 7/10: We had Ollie Fussell, a few days before his 13th birthday give his first TT a thrash!

Event #5: Tuesday 3rd June 2025 @ 19:00h
Report: It was our first ‘away trip’ of the season as we headed over to the East Grinstead CC Club TT which takes place every Tuesday evening on the wonderfully flat and quiet Horne circuit. After a warm welcome and relaxed sign in we set out for a gentle course recce, quickly working out it’s left turns … until the right hand one! Julian & John picked up the RB points, whilst McRocket secured another 20 points in the TT comp. There are at least x2 more trips planned … although the road surface means we might just move the whole SDW series over there!
Red Lamp Moments: Jonny F set off like a club ride, although the heckling from Julian meant he didnt start the Wahoo so that probably secures it!
Rider of the Evening: Jonny F for gaining a full minute on Rider #1
TT Debrief: Just a swift pot in the VG enroute home.
TT Debuts (Season Target x10) – 6/10: None for this event.

Event #4: Thursday 29th May 2025 @ 19:00h
Report: It was supposed to be Pooh Sticks but nobody was really sure if the stream was clear of lights, so it was back to Ladies Mile. The first TWTC vs SDW Interclub event where riders were asked to predict their finish time. James C absolutely smashed this, winning the event in the exact time predicted – 29 min 40 secs (wow!). There were x4 finishers from TWTC so taking the top 4 points scorers from each team sees the competition level on 65 points each – all to ride for in the coming weeks. Well done to all that took part and for putting up with the course confusion.
Red Lamp Moments: This goes to Owen D – arriving late and then (allegedly) pulling after one lap as he was ‘too tired’.
Rider of the Evening: Had to be James C for this Mystic Meg (he wont even have heard of her) predictions. Shoutout to Martin who led the event too.
TT Debrief: Not sure – I was camping.
TT Debuts (Season Target x10) – 6/10: Welcome to Jules Ward from TWTC who was joining us for his first SDW Club TT.

Event #3: Thursday 22nd May 2025 @ 19:00h
Report: The dreaded roadworks appeared so it was back down to that roundabout (Omar taking bragging rights on the fabled segment), as he did overall, finishing 10 seconds clear of James ‘he’s done his marshal duty’ C. Ivo continued a fine start to the season, he’d had plenty of time to warm up as Taxi Dad had him at the startline more than an hour early! Grant took full advantage of McRocket’s week off, taking max points in the TT comp. It was then Jamie ‘i’ve been doing quite a bit of running and cycling’ B who took the honors in the HCP comp. Big shoutout the the ever faster Henry who took bragging rights over Dad and most of the field despite suffering cramp all the way through the ride.
Red Lamp Moments: Where do we start? Gary for arriving an hour early, Patrick for drafting Ivo and then appearing to shove him in a bush at the end; then there’s Edward who had taken himself to Wadhurst to photograph … nobody!
Rider of the Evening: First we have the evergreen Martin Yardley, who the day after his 60th birthday rode a SDW Club TT for the 31st consecutive year – wow! Well done also to Hannah G who picked up some Pongo socks for her early season commitment and riding prowess (no photo obvs!)
TT Debrief: Twas a good one, Mike & Ben back … we even had The Admiral & Rosemary join us to laugh at ‘Photographer’ Ed!
TT Debuts (Season Target x10) – 5/10: Nobody new this week so we stay on 5 from the first three events.

Event #2: Thursday 15th May 2025 @ 19:00h
Report: Whilst temperatures weren’t warm, the riding was hot! Almost too hot for the wonderful watches who intially missed Omar streaking past (whilst holding his number up – blast those not so safe pins!) – speeding to glory by some margin. McRocket picked up the TT points, although the marshals awarded Jenny max TT bike style points. A massive shoutout to Henry who not only held off Dad, he did for most of the field too – what a brilliant ride!
Red Lamp Moments: Mmmm… could give this to James C who only offered to marshal as he ridden last week (thinking it was x1 ride, x1 marshal – I wish!); Baggey brought his brother along, then hid out of the way to protect his chips. However, for ‘spoke-gate’ it goes to Pete C who was quite happy that his 28 year old wheels finally disintegrated on the hallowed Ladies Mile carpet!
Rider of the Evening: Sue H – arrived at a first TT and absolutely smashed it. Our first KVG lady in many years and we’re looking forward to seeing you again.
TT Debrief: The one at The Junction – the spokeless wonder didnt have any trouble getting there, but did buy the round so we’ll let him off.
TT Debuts (Season Target x10) – 5/10: Sue, Jenny & Franklin this week – brilliant to have you all involved.

Event #1: Thursday 8th May 2025 @ 19:00h
Report: The season rolled out with 18 riders on the startsheet and didn’t disappoint. There were some seriously rapid times recorded in less than ideal conditions. Huge shoutout to Olly for winning overall, he just needs to find 24 secs to topple CPGs solo RB record. McRocket managed to stay well inflated and smashed the TT comp, Baggey suffering from lack of inflation but managed to get round. The marshals award for most elegant (and safe) roundabout goes to Henry Tutt – who is also going very well and likely to earn a reprimand after beating Dad (again!).
Red Lamp Moments: Baggey (obvs!) – for messing up this attempted Rider of the Week photo bomb.
Rider of the Evening: Kicking off at The VG – Vincent Brand & Dave Allen shared the socks this week (we did give them a pair each) for smashing their first TTs.
TT Debrief: 9 present, including Martin who had fallen over running. Bit cold for outside and low on the Monster Munch too.
TT Debuts (Season Target x10) – 2/10: Vincent Branch & Dave Allen
